This is the central idea behind Sancho PM. It’s easy to attack imaginary enemies, chase phantom opportunities, and build for fictional users. It’s harder — and more valuable — to see things as they actually are.

• Talk to users before building for them
• Acknowledge when the data contradicts your beliefs
• Distinguish between what you know and what you assume
• Seek disconfirming evidence, not just validation

• Building what you want users to want
• Ignoring data that contradicts your vision
